WHAT – Defensive tactics instructor certification course.
WHERE – Ottawa region – Exact location TBC.
WHEN – 7 – 11 July, 2025.  0830 – 1600 daily.
WHY – To develop instructor’s ability to deliver the DA training philosophy and material.   To provide an opportunity to enhance tactical considerations for solving problems with respect to legal authorities.  The integration of kit and equipment.  Working through kit-related mobility restriction – Principle and concept based approach to the ‘how’ to ‘why’.

Topics to cover:
– Presentation on training approach and instructional techniques,
– Performance on demand and mental strengthening,
– DA training philosophy / human connection,
– Striking, Clinch and Ground-based fighting – application and options,
– Edge weapons – active counter measures,
– Long gun and pistol retention drills,
– Subject control and take-down defences,
– Ground to feet recovery with and without the presence of kit and equipment,
– Team-fighting approach and concepts,
– Interior movement and team-functions,
– Scenario-based development and use of live role players,
– Progressive integration of kit and equipment,
– Non-lethal Simuniton/UTMs training.

Monday-Wednesday – On the mat training.
Thursday – In a CQB environment (Off-site location TBC – Ottawa).
Friday – On the mat training.

Participants will require:
– Gun belt, plate carrier / body armour, helmet, light pair of shooting gloves, eye protection,
– Pistol and long gun equipped with a sling,
– Simuniton / UTMs kits for both pistol and carbine rifle,
– INERT guns – training blue / red guns,
– Duty pants and t-shirts,
– Muay Thai shinpads, 16oz boxing gloves,
– Wrestling boots, mouthpiece and jock / cup,
– Water bottle,  notepad and pen.
* Please notify DA if you require any specific kit or equipment.
DA will provide Simunition FX non-lethal marking ammunition for this training.

Recommended Pre-requisites:
Participants are recommended to have a minimum of 3 years of active duty experience in their profession.
Minimum of 2 years experience in one of the following:  Jiu-Jitsu, MMA, Muay Thai, Boxing, Krav Maga, Judo, Boxing.
Comfortable level of firearms safety and handling – Pistol and Carbine rifle.  Physically & mentally healthy.
Physically able to run 2.5 Kms in 16:00 or less.

Maximum course load of 8 participants.
