Combative Self-defence Seminar
WHO – This 3-hour seminar will involve currently serving and recent retired members of the Canadian Armed Forces. (Retired in the last 5 years).
WHAT – Self-defence and situational awareness training.
WHERE – 250 City Center Ave., Ottawa. Near the National War Museum.
Gracie Barra Martial Arts facility.
WHEN – 1:30pm to 4:30pm.
Saturday, 16 November ’24.
WHY – To bring together members of the Canadian Armed Forces for a shared experience in combative self-defence. To provide awareness in persona protection while offering an alternative solution for mental and physical health. Active and recently retired members are welcome.
FEE – Free.
This seminar will offer the following topics:
-Situational awareness,
-Physiological and psychological effects of a potential altercation on the streets,
-Accountability of actions,
-Avoidance and pre-confrontation considerations,
-Striking, Clinch and Ground techniques,
-Edge weapons use and knife attack defences,
-Ground to feet recovery options.
Post seminar – We will move to a local restaurant called Beyond the Pale, and offer a team dinner to get to know each in a comfortable social setting.
Participants will require the following:
-Comfortable athletic attire (shorts, lightweight pants, t-shirts),
-Water bottle,
-Hand towel,
-Minimum of 19 years of age, maximum of 55 years of age,
-Participants of all physical abilities are welcome,
-No previous training experience required.
Direct Action will provide:
-All training aids and safety equipment required to train safely and effectively,
-Coaching and instruction,
-Mat space and training venue.
