Full Spectrum Combative Self-Defence Training Experience. *23 April, 2020* 

Participants will receive value in a fulsome training experience blending Self-D training on the mat and firearms training on the range.

The training day will begin at Ottawa Martial Arts Center, located at 250 City Center Ave. in downtown Ottawa.  Here, we will conduct our mat training session for 3 hours.  Then we will move to the Stittsville Shooting ranges, located at 7265 Fernbank Rd., in the west end of Ottawa.   Here, we will train an additional 3 hours, combining pistol and carbine rifle.

WHY:  To provide a full spectrum training experience, combining mat time & live-fire training.
TIME:  8:00 am to 11:00 am on the Mat.  12:30 pm to 3:30 pm on the range.
COST:  $165

Deliverables:  On the mat, we will focus on edged weapons (fixed & folding blade).  Deployment, retention and effective use of an edged weapon.  With personal protection being the motivating factor, we will cover how to identify and react to pre-attack cues given by an assailant.  We will use unorthodox strikes and other means of physical contact to create an imbalance and keep the attacker on his heels.

On the range, we will focus on developing speed and accuracy while moving.  “Crawl, Walk, Run” shooting stages will be experienced.  We will expose the shooter to various gun state, and have the shooter reacting to the gun while being challenged with various ranges and target difficulty.  We will practice transitioning between firearms platforms with a motivation to ensure the draw stroke is smooth, efficient and safe.  Trigger finger awareness and muzzle awareness will be important for an overall safe and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.

• Participants will require the following gear:
• Comfortable athletic attire for on the mat training
• Wrestling boots (optional) or barefoot – no outdoor shoes on the mat
• Jock and mouthpiece (optional)
• Range gear & safety equipment – Eye protection/Hearing protection
• Valid PAL(R) firearms license
• Pistol/Carbine rifle
• Minimum 3 magazines for each firearm
• Applicable sling/magazine poaches/holster
• Ammunition (Minimium 150 rounds pistol, 100 rounds Carbine rifle
• Direct Action will provide:
  Training aids
  Pads and kit for the mat training
  Paper/steel targets and range set-up
