WOTAC: Women's Only Tactical Development
Location: Toronto Police College.
Dates: February 19-20, 2026.
Times: 0800 to 1630
Day 1:
Intros / Welcome & Safety brief.
90-minute discussion on mindset, performance on demand and grit.
Human performance guest speaker, Dr. Chris Edwards.
Then we'll be on the range conducting firearms training (Pistol / Carbine rifle).
Dry-fire drills and fundamentals of effective marksmanship.
Malfunction and target transition drills.
Afternoon dedicated to Defensive Tactics.
Focus on subject control measures with an emphasis on 1-officer and 2-officer take- down options.
Firearms retention drills.
Ground to feet recovery techniques.
Day 2:
90-minute discussion on CQB principles and mindset / human performance.
Human performance guest speaker, Dr. Chris Edwards.
Then we'll move to the range for more advanced application firearms training.
Movement drills, speed and accuracy development drills.
Afternoon dedicated to CQB footwork and team movement.
Staking, staging, entries.
Firearms positioning.
Movement and arcs of responsibility.
End of course summary and feedback form.
This 2-day course of open to all female officers from across Canada who are interested in
either a career with Tactical Policing or already employed in a tactical role. Sworn officers
from Municipal, Provincial, Federal police officers welcome.
We will help build confidence and reinforce a solid foundation of firearms proficiencies (Pistol & Carbine rifle). We will explore concepts and options pertaining to subject control measures (1-officer, and 2-officer contact with an unruly subject).
We will cover methods of interior structure clearance (Close Quarters Combat / Immediate Response Rapid Deployment) details and footwork. Team dynamics and mutual support development.
Prerequisites:
Minimum of 3-years’ experience Law Enforcement officer. Carbine rifle qualified.
Physically and mentally healthy. This will be a physically and cognitively demanding course.
Participants will require the following kit and equipment:
Duty boots / Pants / Shirt. Duty belt, holster with pistol + 3 magazines.
Carbine rifle, sling + 3 magazines. Simunition™ kits for both long gun and pistol.
Eye and ear protection.
Soft body armour / plate carrier equipped with a carbine magazine
carrier.
Duty pants, T-shirts, wrestling boots, and mouthguard for on the mat training.
**Pistols and Carbine rifles may be supplied by the Toronto Police College.**
Minimum round count:
Pistol – 600 x live rounds (Ball, Duty or Frangible) ammunition.
Carbine rifle – 800 x live rounds (Ball, Duty or Frangible) ammunition.
DA will provide:
Training venues supported by the Toronto Police college. 2 x supporting assisting instructors.
(1 x TPS female tactical police professional, and 1 x male former RCMP ERT professional).
1 x videographer who will provide post training footage to participants as refence material.
1 x guest speaker. All training aids and protective equipment.
Targets / range specific resources. Simunition™ non-lethal marking cartridges for the CQB portion will be provided.
**For the success of this 2-day course, we will require a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 12 participants.**
