Open to MIL / LEA / Security Professionals

Prerequisites:
- Min 3 years in the profession
- Basic level of proficient in Pistol and Carbine firearms handling.
- Physically fit.  Mentally healthy. 

Participants will require:
- Full operational  kit & equipment.  Duty pants and shirts
- Outer layer for inclement weather
- Decent footwear for outdoor activity
- Plate carrier / Issued SBV with carbine magazine carrier
- Gun belt / holster
- Pistol and Carbine rifle
- Rifle sling
- Min of 3 magazines per firearm platform
- Helmet
- Eye and ear protection
- Light pair of shooting gloves
- Wpns mounted white light on both 
firearms platforms
- Handheld white light
- Firearms maintenance / cleaning kit
- Extra batteries for optics & lights

Minimum ammunition natures and quantities/ participant:
Pistol - 2000 x rounds live.  (1000 x Frangible if possible). 
Carbine rifle - 3000 x rounds live.  (1500 x Frangible if possible).
12 ga Shotgun - 100 x #7.5 or #8 Handicap / Target Bird shot. 
                              25 x #4 or #00 Buck shot.
                              25 x 1oz / Target Slug shot.

DA will provide:
- Range facility (Stittsville Shooting Ranges - Range #5A)
- All training aids required.
- Steel / Paper / Cardboard  / Clay targets
- Range safety / staff / instructors

What to expect:
Building a positive culture around tactical firearms applications.  Individual skill and technique development (Basics to Advanced applications).  Alternative teaching methods and instructional modalities.  Firearms manipulations while considering the consequences of our actions.  This course will offer a safe and challenging approach   guiding participants through elements of organized discomfort.  
Respect will be given to the community safety and policing act outlined in Ministry standards. 


Introduction & Purpose

Objective:

  • Shooting is shooting.  The art of pulling the trigger is relatively simple.  This course is designed to assist the professional in uniform.  This is not a sport.  This is real life.

Under stress quality training repetitions will surface.

2. Adaptability
Violence is chaotic.  A warrior mindset finds methods to solve problems with the knowledge readily accessible - Mind, body, tools in the hands.

Developing speed and accuracy in firearms proficiencies:

  • fatigue
  • surprise
  • environmental factors

Day 1
0830 In the classroom - Presentation on mindset / instructional techniques and human connection. 
Motivation and inspiring others. 
On the range - Pistol fundamental development.
Confirm zero / diagnostics shoot.
DA standard drill (Evaluation intro #1)
Dry-fire drills. 
Draw stroke.
Malfunction drills and remedies. 
5m-30m distance skill development.
Daily teach-backs * Student led guided instruction.
End of day friendly completion. 

Day 2
1200 On the range - Carbine fundamental development.
Malfunction drills and remedy options. 
2-gun stages. 
Transition drills including less-lethal options. 
Low-light shoot.
White light discipline considerations.
Daily teach-backs * Student led guided instruction.
End of day friendly completion. 

Day 3
1230 On the range - Movement drills.
Move / shoot possibilities.
Multi-distance / multi target challenges.
Use of barricades.
Positional and unorthodox shooting. 
Low-light shoot.
When / where / why / methods of white light activation.
Team movement stages in low-light conditions.
Daily teach-backs * Student led guided instruction.
End of day friendly completion. 

Day 4
1000 - Vehicle combatives.
Shooting in / around / through vehicle materials. 
Team-fighting movement. 
Injury drills and stages.  
Single hand firearm manipulations.
Daily teach-backs * Student led guided instruction. 
End of day friendly completion. 

Day 5
0830 On the range.  
DA standard performance check #2 (Pass / Fail assessment) 
Shotgun work. 
*Semi-auto and pump-action shotguns will be provided. 
Counter drone considerations. 
Ballistic breaching possibilities. 
Daily teach-backs * Student led guided instruction. 
End of day friendly completion.
