Prerequisites:  
 - Min 3 years in the profession
 - Basic understanding of CQB
 - Proficient with pistol and carbine rifle
 - Have Night Vision Optics and supporting equipment

Participants will require:
 - Full operational kit & equipment
 - Plate carrier
 - Gun belt
 - Sim Pistol and Carbine rifle
 - Rifle sling
 - Min of 3 magazines per firearm platform
 - Sim bolt/barrel for both platforms
 - Helmet with NVGs & mount
 - Weapons mounted white light & laser
 - Accessories and batteries
 - Eye and ear protection
 - Light pair of shooting gloves

Minimum round count / participant
Pistol: 100 rounds live (Ball or Frangible).  50 rounds Simunition non - lethal marking cartridges.
Carbine: 200 rounds live (Ball or Frangible).  100 rounds Simunition non - lethal marking cartridges.  
Diversionary Devices (DD's):  2 x training bodies.  10 x training inserts.

What to Expect
This course is designed to develop CQB instructors and offer officers/ operators a platform to develop their own individual skills and tactical understanding. 

A major focus of the course is instructor development.  Participants  will learn how to effectively transfer knowledge, coach teammates, and clearly explain the “why” and “when” behind tactical decisions in CQB operations.

Training will follow a progressive model, incorporating dry drills, Simunition, Live-fire applications, including the integration on Night Optic Device training.
Scenarios will include:

  • Open and closed door entries

  • Hallways and confined spaces

  • Offset openings and angles

  • Stairwell operations

  • Dynamic and deliberate entry options

  • Use of distraction devices (DDs)

  • Barricaded suspect situations

  • Armed and assaultive behaviour considerations

Participants will also develop skills in delivering professional safety briefs, managing training information, and leading structured debriefs.

By the end of the course, participants will be better equipped to operate within and instruct CQB teams while maintaining high standards of safety, communication, and tactical proficiency.

Day 1
Morning: Presentation on Close Quarters Combat (CQC) principles and operational mindset.
Location: 2 Cushman Rd. St. Catharines, ON
Time: 0830

Afternoon: CQB practical training focusing on 1, and 2 member team options, including staging, stacking, and entry techniques. Instruction will also cover considerations for structure  materials and methods of entry.  Deliberate Vs. Dynamic. 
Location: 107 Seneca Trail, Welland, ON
Time: 1230 -1700

Dry - Sim - Live progression.  Footwork and entries. 
2-member live fire NVG repetitions. 

Day 2
In the CQB: Practical training focusing on 4- member team options.  Corner fed / centre fed rooms.  Barricades and visual obstacles.  Operator / officer down drills.

Dry - Sim - Live progression, including live NVG repetitions. 

Day 3
Morning: 90-mins Defensive Tactics (DT) session covering firearms retention drills, edged-weapon defenses, and 2-operator control tactics.

Time: 0830
Remainder of the day:  6-member team movement.  Multi-team / multi-entry point iterations.  Link-up drills.  Communication options.

Time: 1030 - 1700.

Dry - Sim - Live progression including live NVG repetitions. 

Day 4
CQB training focusing on 4, 6, and full team operations.  Multi-team / multi-entry point options.  Link-up drills.  Blue-on-Blue considerations - avoidance protocols.  Hallways, corners, and stairwells.  Live role player scenarios and mix of shoot / no-shoot reactive paper targets.

Time: 0830 - 1630

Dry and Simunition ONLY. 

Day 5
NVG - Stealth to contact methods of clearance.  Quiet / smooth / deliberate / concise non-verbal communications.  
Student-led teach backs.  
Direction on lesson plan(s) to offer instruction and feedback to a body of students.  Students (TBC).

Sim only delivery.
